A collection of bound plates from the French fashion periodical which began during the Georgian period. By the early twentieth century Journal des dames et des modes had become one of the premier and exclusive fashion periodicals exemplifying the Art Deco period. The journal is most noted for the fashion plates by Georges Barbier showing his original designs, but other fine illustrators also contributed including Umberto Brunelleschi, Armand Vallee, H. Robert Dammy, Victor L. Huer, Fabius (Alberto Fabio Lorenzi), Charles Martin, Maurice Taquoy, Gerda Wegener and Roger Broders. With writing by such notables as Jean Cocteau, Anatole France, and the Comtesse de Noailles. Colas 1567.
