6 volumes. Folio (350 x 220 mm). Illustrated throughout with maps and engravings (maps of Africa, Asia and America lacking from volume one). Later calf worn, some covers detached. A few leaves loose.
Provenance: Myrdie McNeill, Mt. Edgecumbe, Alaska (stamped on titles).

THIRD EDITION. Compiled by Awnsham and John Churchill: "this is a very valuable collection, both for its range of coverage and for the fact that it gives the original accounts...the third edition is considered to be best because of its greater inclusiveness and its copious index" (Hill). Two further volumes were issued separately in 1745. Hill 295, with "Harleian Voyages"; Sabin 13017.

Saleroom notices

  • The maps of Africa, Asia, and America are present but bound in later volumes. However, of the 300 plus plates there are roughly 20 not present. Sold not subject to return.
