Footnotes

  • Originally from upstate New York, Albert Potter began creating his own timepieces in 1855 in New York city. In time he left America and eventually settled in Geneva in 1875 during which period it is commonly held that the watches he created were of his finest. The current lot comes with a typed anecdote dating from the late 40s remarking that after 365 days of regular winding but no re-setting or adjusting the watch was running a grand total of 8 seconds fast.
