Early 18th Century
Reconverted from percussion, with swamped russet two-stage barrels (surface rust beneath) each with border engraved brass-covered sighting rib decorated with a serpent and carrying the brass fore-sight, turned brass-covered girdles, and part octagonal breeches each applied with brass strips along the upper flats and struck with two barrelsmith's marks beneath, grooved brass-covered border engraved tangs, border engraved flat locks lightly decorated with foliage(re-engraved) and each inscribed 'Godefroye Corbeau A Mastrich' on the bevelled edge, moulded figured full stocks (one butt broken through and repaired) each with scrolled swelling at the rear ramrod-pipe and apron around the barrel tang, cast and chased mounts comprising pierced foliate side-plates each with bound captives centred on a mask, foliate escutcheons with a portrait bust of a warrior above a cuirass, spurred pommels each with grotesque mask cap centred on foliage between winged cherub's heads, trigger-guards each with a trophy on a bow and foliate finial above a grotesque mask, faceted ramrod-pipes, scroll triggers, and later brass-capped wooden ramrods (some wear overall) (2)

A successful bidder at this sale will be required to pay Bonhams 1793 Limited ("Bonhams") a premium calculated as follows:

25% on the first £175,000 of the hammer price
20% on the excess of £175,001 and up to £3,000,000 of the hammer price
12.5% on the excess of £3,000,001 of the hammer price

VAT at 20% will be payable on the amount of the premium.
The premium is payable for the services to be provided by Bonhams in the Buyer's Agreement which is contained in the catalogue for this Sale and for the opportunity to bid for the Lot at the Sale.
