The three part box with inset brass escutcheons, ivory name and numeral plaque and Patent lock with key, a pair of twin handles set to the side, the signed and numbered 4 inch Roman dial with engraved minute band and subsidiary seconds dial intersecting the numeral XII, the up-and-down subsidiary dial set above VI and marked in 8 hour divisions, with original blued steel hands, set within an angled sight ring held within an intricately cast brass bezel and set into a lockable gimbal held by scalloped octagonal washers, the chain fusee movement with blued steel helical spring to a freesprung cut and compensated bimetallic balance and Earnshaw spring detent escapement, wound through the bottom of the bowl via Barraud's integral butterfly winding key (now with additional turned button to aid winding even further) The case 17cms (6.75ins) wide
