The department is delighted to invite further entries for the forthcoming auction of Modern British & Irish Art on 22 November taking place at 101 New Bond Street. Already consigned are a group of highly significant works from the Benedict Read Collection including a 1936 gouache by Ben Nicholson O.M. (£150,000-200,000) and a unique Barbara Hepworth Mother & Child carving from 1934, currently on exhibition at The Henry Moore Foundation. Benedict was son of Sir Herbert Read, the esteemed art critic and author. Other highlights include a large, seminal oil by Keith Vaughan titled The Return of the Prodigal Son at £100,000-150,000, sculpture by Lynn Chadwick and Henry Moore O.M., C.H. as well as important works on paper by William Roberts R.A. and Paul Nash, among other major names such as Sir Stanley Spencer R.A., Ivon Hitchens, David Jagger R.O.I., Sir John Lavery R.A. and Paul Feiler.
