Campaign Service Medal 1962, two bars, Dhofar, Northern Ireland (23839110 Tpr.D.Fleming SAS.); South Atlantic 1982 with rosette (23839110 WO2 D Fleming SAS); Army Long Service and Good Conduct, E.II.R. (23839110 SSgt D.Fleming SAS). Court mounted as worn. With replacement ribbon roller to the first and second bar not rivetted, otherwise very fine or better. (3)

    Warrant Officer D.Fleming joined the Devon and Dorset Regiment in 1967, he applied for SAS selection in 1970, on passing selection he was posted to 18 Troop 'D' Squadron. He was sent out to Oman for the Dhofar campaign where he was shot in the back and seriously wounded. He returned to the UK and spent time at the Military Hospital at Woolwich recuperating. On his return to the regiment he was involved in many covert operations including Northern Ireland and many other locations. In addition, he carried out a variety of training synonymous with the Regiment in Europe, Africa and the Far East.

    During the South Atlantic campaign he was with D Squadron and was flown to the Ascension Islands and with help from the Royal Navy was part of the first squadron on South Georgia, recapturing this with little resistance.

    He was involved in various operations on the Falkland Islands including the raid on Pebble Island, he also was present at the signing of the surrender document.

    He was awarded his LSGC medal in 1983 after a plea of mitigation relating to an incident in October 1976, details supplied.

    He retired from the SAS in June 1992.
