1979 Alfa Romeo Sei safety Car
Chassis no. ZAR 119 A 0000001340
An early example manufactured on 19th March 1979, chassis number '1340' started its life in Blu Olandese with beige velvet seats and during its first three years was a demonstration and company car for Alfa Romeo Benelux in Brussels. At the end of 1982 it was loaned in a sponsor deal together with a sister car to the 'Union Mécanisée' at Spa Francorchamps where it served as safety car from 1983 till 1988.

Both cars where repainted white in time for the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix of 1983. At the same time they were equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers, Cibié Oscar driving lights, flashing lights on the roof, CB radio with antenna, and a 'home made' tow-bar.
In 1988 both cars where replaced by new red Alfa 75s and were returned to the local Alfa Romeo dealer Goblet of Theux, where they had been maintained. This car was purchased by the late Mr Candy, a well-known local collector of Italian cars, and was stored till 2012. Unfortunately, the sister car appears to have disappeared.

Still wearing its slight 'battle scars' with pride, '1340' is very well preserved and is believed never restored or welded. After long-term storage a new exhaust has been fitted and the brakes and clutch re-commissioned, while the engine has benefited from new fluids, cam belt and water pump. The steel wheels were professionally refurbished and are wearing the original Pirelli tyres, still in good condition.

All the equipment is genuine and some of the decals are hand-painted. The stickers on the sides are perfectly replicated and the Cibié and Bilstein decals are original. This Alfa Sei comes with its Belgian certificate of conformity, manuals, tool kit, service book and bill of sale by Alfa Belgium. Over the years, it covered 44,000 kilometres and was never previously road registered.
