Footnotes

  • See The Collectors Encyclopedia of Dolls, volume two by Dorothy S, Elizabeth A and Evelyn J Coleman, page 615, ill. 1385.

Heinz is modelled after Professor Lewin-Funcke's nephew Heinz Burkowitz and is probably the most expressive in the 100 series of character dolls, with his deeply moulded features, prominent double chin and dimple, his puckered and rather endearing expression typical of a young and slightly mischievous child.

Other known examples of mould 106 are incised to the back of the head, it is likely that this doll with his painted 106 number is the prototype for this doll.
