The Beatles: John Lennon's evening suit,
black with matching lining, single-breasted jacket with satin shawl collar, inside pocket labelled Tailored By Frame Exclusively For Cecil Gee Of London and stamped R 38, single satin-covered button to front with four matching to each cuff, pleated-front trousers, sold with an affidavit from John and Cynthia's former housekeeper at 'Kenwood', Dorothy ('Dot') Jarlett
- Further research finds John Lennon wore an identical evening suit to the Carl-Alan awards on Monday 23rd March 1964. There are marked comparisons to the four satin covered buttons on the cuffs, the jacket darts to the chest and a small area of visible lining on the bottom edge on the left hand side of the jacket. The Beatles attended the ceremony where the Duke of Edinburgh presented them with two awards for their musical achievements from 1963. Please contact the department for more details.
