Footnotes

  • The patent for the Revolver Cylinder Musical Box movement was granted to Amedée Paillard in 1870 under no. 105,972(U.S.). The concept of placing move than one cylinder within the movement was an attempt to simplify the changing cylinders on an interchangeable instrument.

The interchangeable revolver musical box is a rare example of an already unusual movement and very few examples remain extant.

A four cylinder revolver box but without interchangable cylinders was sold in these rooms as lot 120 on the 28th April 2009 for £26,400 including premium.
