The hinged reeded handle over the plain rectangular case with bevelled glass panels to top and side, the back with the shuttered panel with apertures and levers for winding, hand setting, strike silent and regulation, the gilt dial with Roman chapter ring and signature cartouche on a finely engine turned ground, the signed and numbered twin train fusee movement with large gilt English lever platform escapement, striking and repeating the hours on a coiled blued steel gong. 18.5cm (7.25in)

  • This case style was popular with McCabe. He varied its production by adding a variety of decorative finishes, such as enine turning as in this example, or engraving to either the case or the dial.
