A delftware blue dash equestrian charger, early 18th century
English or Netherlands, probably depicting William III on horseback, wearing a plumed hat with his sash billowing in the breeze and holding a baton, sponged trees at either side, all painted in blue with light green and yellow highlights, within a blue dash rim, 35.2cm diam (rim wear)

    A similar example is illustrated by Frank Britton, English Delftware (1982), p.63. The source print is most likely an image of William III by T van Merlen, although the potter has added a fanciful plumed hat.
