Auction information

The Modern British & Irish Art department is delighted to announce its first Evening auction will take place on Monday 17 November ahead of the Day sale on Tuesday 18th November, and we are pleased to now invite further consignments for this forthcoming exciting season at New Bond Street.

Leading the way, are seven important works from The Arnold & Barbara Burton Collection. A highlight being Cantate Domino (1958) by Dame Barbara Hepworth - to be offered at £500,000-700,000, a cast of which has never been available for sale on the open market previously. This work is supported by stellar examples by L.S. Lowry, Keith Vaughan, Dame Elisabeth Frink and a rediscovered Roderic O'Conor from his key period circa 1894, just after the artist had met Gauguin.

Other key pictures and sculpture to be offered include a striking Christopher Wood portrait, an early Paul Nash work on paper, a bust of Sir Winston Churchill by Sir Jacob Epstein as well as a number of fresh to auction and privately consigned works by Walter Sickert, Henry Moore, Algernon Newton and Ivon Hitchens among others.
