1963 FIAT 1100 T3 dépanneuse
Châssis no. 050946

1963 FIAT 1100 T3 Tow-truck
Chassis no. 050946

As the 1950s dawned, FIAT began replacing its range of essentially pre-war designs, commencing in 1950 with the '1400', its first car to feature integral construction of the chassis/body. This was followed in 1952 by the '1900' and then in 1953 by the nuovo '1100', superseding the Type 508 Balilla. Known as the '1100/103', after its project number, the newcomer also featured an entirely new overhead-valve engine and was available initially in two versions: the basic type 'A' and the better equipped and more expensive type 'B'. Two-seater convertible, estate, diesel-engined and commercial versions followed as the design evolved. The 1100/103 was built until 1969 when it was replaced by the Tipo 128.

The FIAT 1100 tow-truck offered here has the 1,221cc engine that first became available on the T2 version in 1959. Recently repainted, the vehicle is described as in generally good condition and proper working order. It comes with original Italian libretto stating that the first owner was the local FIAT dealer in Perugia.
