1959 Ford Galaxie Sunliner Convertible
Chassis no. B9FC304756

New for 1959, the Galaxie began life as a style variant of the hugely successful Fairlane. The year 1959 is considered by many a high water mark of Ford styling, an opinion endorsed by the award of a Gold Medal for Exceptional Styling at the Brussels World's Fair. In creating one of its most iconic models, Ford's stylists hit upon to the simple yet inspired idea of grafting the Thunderbird top onto the Fairlane body. The result was one of the decade's most memorable automobiles. Six body styles were available in the Galaxie V8 series, a line-up that included the innovative Skyliner retractable hardtop convertible. Various engine options were available, the car offered here being fitted with the 332ci (5.4-litre) 225bhp V8. Ford totally redesigned its range for 1960, ensuring that the one-year-only, first-of-a-kind Galaxies would be among its rarest and most collectible post-war models.

Featured in 'California Classics' by Andy Burnham, this particular Sunliner Convertible has been in the vendor's family's possession since the date of its first registration in the UK in 1990, having been purchased from Emerald Classics in Los Angeles. Finished in two-tone white/green with matching interior, the Galaxie boasts the desirable 'Continental Kit' and is described as in generally good condition, running well. A rare example of Dearborn styling at its very best, the car comes with UK V5C document and is offered without reserve.
