1979 Ducati Pantah 500 SL
Frame no. 660573
Engine no. DM500L-600562
The first of Ducati's 'new generation' of desmodromic v-twins, the Pantah made its debut in 500cc form in 1978. Designed by Fabio Taglioni, the Pantah engine abandoned the Bologna company's traditional shaft-and-bevels camshaft drive in favour of toothed rubber belts. With 46bhp available at the back wheel, the Pantah was capable of close to 120mph, which was some going for a 500cc four-stroke in those days. A straight-tube trellis frame and triple Brembo disc brakes ensured that the Pantah handled and stopped as well as it went in a straight line. An early example of a fast-appreciating modern classic, this Pantah 500 SL was restored around 15 years ago and last used in 2012. Described as in generally good condition, the machine is offered with Italian Libretto di Circolazione, Certificato di Proprieta and ASI papers.
