Footnotes

  • An attractive copy of the so-called 'miniature Speed atlas': forty of Van de Keere's maps date from 1599 and were based mostly on Saxton, pre-dating Speed's versions by over ten years. An unusual feature of this copy is that three of the Scottish and Irish maps were printed upside down and have been corrected by having further impressions of the maps laid on top.

Provenance: J.F. Fletcher, ownership signature on front free endpaper; Robert Parker, bookplate.
