Morrison, engraved "JDM" to front and "from E.H.S." with maker's mark stamp inside, 42mm. diameter; an electroplated serving spoon, from the British National Antarctic Expedition, the handle engraved with the expedition logo (rubbed), maker's mark "D&A" verso, 218mm. long (2)

  • Ernest Shackleton suffered from ill health during the British National Antarctic Expedition 1901–04 and was eventually invalided home due to scurvy. In February 1903 the SS Morning transported Shackleton from the McMurdo Sound back to Britain. John Donald Morrison was Chief Engineer on the SS Morning, and Shackleton gifted the silver napkin ring to him after this journey.
