A pair of Knickerbocker Mickey and Minnie Mouse cloth toys with signed 'Walt Disney' feet, American 1930's Provenance: presented to Sheila MacDonald (1910-1994) by Walt Disney, thence by descent. Sheila MacDonald was the third daughter of James Ramsay MacDonald (1866-1937), Britain's first Labour Prime Minister. Following her elder brother Malcolm's (1901-1994) appointment as Canadian High Commissioner in 1941, Sheila accompanied her brother on a number of trips to the US with the specific aim of raising much needed American funds for the British war effort during World War II. It was on one such occasion that they met Walt Disney and Mickie and Minnie were presented.next page
