Lot Details
An early 18th century oak dresser base, English, circa 1720-40
Having a boarded top with deep under-edge moulding, three moulded-edge frieze drawers above a waist-moulding, the sides with ogee-cut aprons, raised on front cabriole legs terminating in pointed pad feet, 184cm wide x 50cm deep x 81.5cm high, (72in wide x 19 1/2in deep x 32in high)

Footnotes

  • The frieze base-rail which extends below the waist-moulding and sits behind the front knee of each cabriole leg is an unusual feature. Traditionally the rail would not extend below the top of the leg, or at least positioned in front.
