A William IV four-piece silver tea and coffee service
by Joseph & John Angell, London 1831-32
Compressed circular form with scalloped rims, ornate leaf and husk capped scroll handles, the pots with ivory insulators, the lightly-domed covers embossed with swirl flutes embellished with leaf scrolls, the stylised flower-bud finials on a leafy calyx, the bodies ornately decorated in a similar manner with swirl flutes embellished with trailing flowers, leaves and c-scrolls, the sugar and cream with gilded interiors, the coffee pot with detachable strainer, each pieces raised on a fluted stepped circular base, crested, height of coffee pot 21cm, weight total 77.5oz. (4)
