Daisy Makeig-Jones for Wedgwood
'Nizami' a Rare Plate, circa 1925
the central well depicting an oriental scene, featuring two figures, a pagoda and a bridge, against a black ground, with a 'Wellington' border in white and green
23.5cm diam, printed maker's mark and painted pattern number 'W1442'
- Please note that the central design is a derivative of the 'Daventry' pattern, see page 236 of Una des Fontaines' publication 'Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre'. However the pattern number to the reverse of this plate is unrecorded and denotes the rare combination of pattern, colourway and border.
