A Composite Italian Two-Hand Sword
First Half Of The 16th Century
With long slightly tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section with broad central fullers on both sides at the forte extending along the long ricasso, the fuller on one side inlaid in copper (some losses) with a large running wolf mark, the ricasso flanked on each side with narrow fullers bordered by copper-inlaid incised line borders (some copper missing) and with a pair of stepped pointed side-lugs beneath, hilt with long straight quillons of circular section with trumpet-shaped tips, the latter each with single turn behind, integral side-ring of circular section front and back, writhen compressed stopper-shaped pommel with button finial, and bottle-shaped velvet-covered wooden grip (plush worn off, some light pitting overall)
