Footnotes

  • Literature
Editions Loft, Guillaume Piéchaud, Paris 2011, p. 28 and 29, other examples illustrated in colour

French designer, Guillaume Piéchaud uses his silversmith training to create original furniture, where he playfully creates objects from polished metal, stainless steel and crystal and transforms them into a mischievous bestiary. Using fauna as inspiration, his creations sit between art and furniture, emanating from a dream-like world where animals come to life as metal creatures so fluid that stainless steel suddenly appears light and soft.
This taste for light is evident in the use of mirror polished stainless steel, and Piéchaud's works are midway between futurist design and ancient myths – as such, they fit well into different environments. It is therefore not surprising that the designer was chosen to decorate the most luxurious suite at the Hotel Lutetia in Paris.
