    Thence by direct descent to the current owner.


    Prof. Murray Schoonraad was a pupil of Battiss's at Pretoria Boys' High School, and he and his wife Elzabé remained good friends with the artist; they co-wrote Battiss in the Hadhramaut in 1985. Schoonraad's other publications include Walter Battiss (Cape Town, 1976), Battiss 75 (Pietermaritzburg, 1981) and New Group 1938-1954 (1988).

Payment Notices
