The ex-Roy Rogers
1968 Honda Trail 90
Frame no. CT90149161
Engine no. CT90E149083
Roy Rogers' favorite ride was his beloved golden palomino Trigger, the "Smartest Horse in the Movies," but the King of the Cowboys was a lifelong motorcyclist who never seemed to be without motorized transport. He was famously photographed in the saddle of an Indian 4 and rifle hunting with his Honda 305 Scrambler in the background. This 1968 Honda Trail 90, purchased by Rogers in January of '69, no doubt was used for more menial duties, likely as a short-haul runabout at his 67-acre Double R Bar ranch near Victorville in Southern California's Mojave Desert. The bike's odometer bears that out, indicating just 4856 miles.
The current owner informs us that the bike starts easily and runs well, its only change from Rogers' ownership being a new set of tires. Included in the sale is a copy of the 1969 State of California Dealer Notice releasing interest in the bike to Roy Rogers.
