1948 Triumph TRW
Frame no. 29251NA
One of three military bikes in the Pierce collection, the Triumph TRW was developed in the immediate post-WWII years to replace the aging designs that had seen the British armed forces through the recent conflict. It followed the overall lines of Triumph's earlier twins but with simpler and more easily maintained sidevalves rather than the civilian models' overhead setup. The engine's low-compression 500cc was fed by a single Solex carburetor. In keeping with the military's requirements for robustness and simplicity, the TRW retained a rigid frame while adding Triumph's telescopic forks. Showing just over 7000 miles, this example comes with canvas rucksacks and a tankbag atop its parcel grid.
- Please note that the frame and engine numbers for this motorcycle are 29251 and TRW29251NA respectively and its title is in transit.
