1942 Harley-Davidson WLA
Engine no. 42WLA8959
"De-mobbed" Harleys like this example from the Pierce collection traded olive-drab for glossy paint and extra chrome, helping meet the upsurge in demand for motorcycles during the immediate postwar years and doing much to re-establish the brand's reputation worldwide.
The Pierces' civilianized WLA, which has covered just 21,000 miles in its seven decades, shows off a shiny primary cover, chainguard, headlight, toolbox and crash bars, plus it has decorative chrome bars fitted to the rear fender, a popular period accessory.
- Please note that this motorcycle is titled under its engine number and its title is in transit.
