1951 Corgi Mark II 98cc Folding Scooter
Frame no. 22161
Engine no. 31099
A development of the British war-time Welbike, a small fold-away lightweight motorcycle designed for dropping by parachute for military use, the civilian Corgi appeared in 1948. Manufactured by Brockhouse Engineering of Southport, on the North-West Coast of England, it was powered by a built-under-license Excelsior Spryt 98cc, two-stroke, single cylinder engine. The 'monkey bike' of its day, the Corgi provided economical, if slow, transport as a 'get-dad-to-work' machine in the austere post-war years when petrol rationing was prevalent. Today the Corgi is a quirky machine suitable for paddock use at race meetings or indeed as a yacht tender vehicle.

This example appears to be in substantially original condition in all respects although will benefit from a very straightforward restoration.
