  • Provenance: Private UK Collection; acquired from private collection in the UK.

During his time in Paris, Sadequain flourished his style and began to assimilate the methods he learned in Pakistan to the discovery of techniques and styles in Paris. He combined the methods of calligraphy with Cubism and Surrealism. Artists such as Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon and Fernand Leger influenced his style in the 1960s. Sadequain was not an artist who wanted to conform to anyone else's mode of art, which explains why he used his surroundings and own teachings as to how he created his works. This artwork, Four Figures was executed during his time in Paris and is the perfect example of how Sadequain was a most discerning rule-breaker.
