Footnotes

The wrathful goddess Sri-Devi, also referred as Palden Lhamo, is the only female in the group of Eight Dharmapalas, who are the protectors of Buddhism. She is the main protectress of the Gelugpa Sect and of Lhasa, as well as of imperial China from the Yuan dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty.

These three delicate and small Sri-Devis exhibit the typical iconography of the goddess riding on a mule brandishing a staff (missing in two figures) in her raised right hand and holding a skull cup filled with blood in her left hand, symbolising that she has conquered all evil and the whole world.
