Enamel and Gemstone Egg Creation with Mexican Fire Opal Brooch in the Interior--"The Mexican Orchid"

The present offering is one of a series of enameled "Egg Creations" for which Manfred Wild is known. Decorated on the outside with lavish eggplant purple guilloche enamel on silver, above a base fabricated of optically clear rock crystal quartz. The hinged lid and stem rimmed with copious amounts of 18K yellow gold. A Mexican orange jelly opal cabochon, weighing approximately 1.50 carats, adorns the top of the egg while a jelly opal in matrix decorates the thumb piece, weighing approximately 7.78 carats. The egg rests upon 4 carved milky white agate petals above a stem decorated with four Russian nephrite jade leaves and 18K yellow gold leaves. The egg opens to reveal a removable brooch designed in the form of an orchid mounted with 4 Mexican jelly opals having either colorless or orange body colors, weighing altogether 27.07 carats, accented with 12 circular-cut tsavorites and 5 diamonds, weighing approximately 0.20 carats.
