4to (267 x 206 mm). xii, 162 pp. Large folding engraved map. Nineteenth century marbled boards, modern goatskin spine and corners. Light offsetting and browning to map, title with three light ink smudges, faint dampstain to lower right corner of first signature; light rubbing to boards. A fresh copy.

FIRST EDITION OF GOLDSON'S SCARCE WORK ON THE NORTHWEST PASSAGE, with the folding map marking the expedition routes of Moldonado and de Fonte. Stevens writes, "Both the book and the map have and will have an increasing interest to those exploring the north-west coasts of North America." RARE, this copy is the only copied located in auction records since 1986, with one other in 1977. Howes G229; Sabin 27722.
