Letter from Chief Factor James Anderson to Sir George Simpson, F. R. G. S., Governor in Chief of Rupert Land, Communicated by the Hudson Bay Company. [Read before the Royal Geographical Society of London on the 28th of January, 1856.] London: W. Clowes and Sons, .
8vo (222 x 140 mm). 8 pp. Original green wrappers (titled on front), bound in modern half calf with red label.
THIS APPEARS TO BE THE ONLY SEPARATELY PUBLISHED ACCOUNT OF THIS PARTICULAR FRANKLIN SEARCH EXPEDITION. Anderson was to descend Back River to its mouth and to determine finally the fate of the Franklin expedition. They found articles from Franklin's ships in the possession of the Eskimos at the mouth of the Back River, and more on Montreal Island, but no remains or survivors. Very rare, probably printed in a small number of copies at the expense of the author for his use. Printed in the Journal of the Royal Geographical Society of London. Vol. 26 (1856), pp 18-25.
