Duck Creek Formation, Texas

Ammonite specimens of this size are extremely rare. Measuring almost four feet in diameter, this very robust, inflated specimen is considered exceptionally large for a North American species. Approximately 101 million years old, it was discovered in the Duck Creek Formation of Eastern Texas. From the private collection of a Nobel Prize winner in medicine, the gargantuan Eopachydiscus was found by the owner himself in the early 1970's. It was acquired from the owner's estate last year. Mounted on a custom stand designed by the original owner. Diameter measures 45in
