Footnotes

  • This scent bottle was possibly produced for the family of the Earl and Countess of Dudley, the major patrons of the Royal Worcester factory. A Royal Worcester thimble with the same monogram was sold in our London rooms, Phillips on 7th March 2001, lot 309. Two other scent bottles by George Owen of the same shape and form remained in the white when George Owen died and are now in the Museum of Worcester Porcelain. One is illustrated by Henry Sandon, Royal Worcester Porcelain (1973), pl.138.
