Circa 1871
The black jasper body applied with white reliefs depicting the myth of Peleus and Thetis, the basal disc with a portrait of Paris, son of King Priam of Troy, the reliefs exhibiting shading and undercutting, 25.5cm high, impressed WEDGWOOD to the base

  • This finely finished vase, with careful shading, closely follows the 'First Edition' Wedgwood examples. It was possibly a copy made to be finished by John Northwood, although it does not have an incised Northwood monogram.
