Very Fine Large Carved Black Opal--"The Eagle's Head"
Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, Australia
Worthy of a custom-made brooch fitting by Madeline Albright, this very fine quality true black opal displays a vivid pattern of blue and green play-of-fire which unmistakeably designates its origin as Lightning Ridge. A five out of five in terms of vibrancy, this was exceptional quality material to use in a carving which deserves a fitting home, signed on the reverse with monogram initials CR and dated '04.
Weighing approximately 122.49 carats and measuring 58.0 x 55.0 x 8.0mm
