Two Rare Matching Crystal Opals
Mintabie, South Australia, Australia
The opal deposits of Mintabie have long been depleted and what rough exists was squirreled away by miners years ago. Such is the case with the present offering: obviously cut from the same seam of opal, this pair would easily lend themselves to being mounted as a pendant: both the elongated pear-shaped drop and the free-form cabochon, have vivid electric lime green broad flash pattern with accents of orange within the translucent creamy colored body. (2)
The large pear-shaped drop weighing approximately 41.5 carats and measuring 60.5 x 28.0 x 2.0mm and the smaller free form weighing approximately 6.0 carats and measuring 2.5 x 1.8 x 2.0mm
