Lion of Vienna trophy presented to Nat Lofthouse
A figure of a Lion with football between claws on a wooden base, affixed to an ebonised plinth. 5 plaques attached to the base, right hand side with club badge and appearance details, the central plaque engraved 'PRESENTED TO NAT LOFTHOUSE on the occasion of his retirement as Playing Member of BOLTON WANDERERS FOOTBALL CLUB in appreciation of many hours of entertainment from EARLESTOWN & DISTRICT SUPPORTERS of BOLTON WANDERERS 11th Feb. 1960', left hand side with England career details and badge, the front plaque engraved 'LION OF VIENNA', and a small one to the top edge with the jewellers name. The lot includes a black and white mounted photograph of the statue hand signed to the surround by approximately 25 including many Preston players and officials of the F.A, a canvas painting entitled 'NAT LOFTHOUSE THE LION OF VIENNA', (framed 33.5 x 38cm) and a 'Lion of Vienna' hardback book published by Sportsprint hand signed inside by Nat Lofthouse and a large colour picture of Nat Lofthouse with the trophy, framed and glazed (Size approx. 63 x 53cm).
