Crouching on a large clam and looking around to the right with an agonised expression as it tries to free its right hind foot which is trapped in the jaws of the shell, its legs carved with ukibori pimples, the ends of the shell inlaid with stained ivory and the cord holes ringed with green-stained ivory, signed on an inlaid gilt-metal tablet Komin with kao. 4.5cm (1¾in).
