An unusual ivory netsuke of a shishi
Late 18th/early 19th century
Standing on its short stocky legs on a rectangular base, its head turned to the left and its tongue protruding from its open mouth, it wears a collar with a suspended suzu (loose ball), its body is carved with small roundels and its eye pupils are inlaid, unsigned. 3.8cm (1½in) wide.
