Iron wax jack
A late 18th century wrought iron wax or taper jack

The sprung jaws with semi-circular nippers and hook terminal to one arm, secured on the central balustroid stem by a finial wrought in the form of a bird, all on a square plateau with shaped edge and issuing a handle with scallop shell terminal and small indistinct stamp, possibly of a crown, the plateau raised on four cabriole-type supports terminating in ball feet, 20cm high
