A rare early 18th century yew wood longcase clock
Ellwood, London
Having a 11-inch brass dial with Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing matted centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, engraved 'Ellwood London', foliate mask spandrels; the five knopped and finned pillar movement with shaped plates and outside countwheel, rack-striking on a bell; the flat top hood with dentil moulding cornice above open twist three quarter columns, concave throat moulding, a plain door with moulded edge raised on a rectangular plinth base. Sold with a pendulum, two weights and winder. 203cm (80") high.
