The overmantel almost certainly constructed in part from an Elizabethan headboard
The over-mantel with a pair of deep recessed panels each carved with a flower-filled vase and a pair of resting birds within a carved arch and gauge-carved frame, over a pair of conforming panels carved with a portcullis guarded facade, each panel centred and flanked by carved figural terms, with griffin carved side mounts, the later fire surround with panelled frieze centred by a lion carved shield, the jambs linenfold carved and headed by green-man masks, with part Elizabethan cut bed-posts to the foreground, each post bulbous and baluster-turned and profusely leaf-carved, panel dimensions: 161cm wide x 25cm deep x 146 cm high; fire surround 181cm wide x 72.5cm deep x 125cm high
