Palm Flower
Sabalites sp.
Green River Formation, Wyoming

Considered very rare finds in the Green River Formation of Wyoming due to the fragility of the fine cellulose composition, palm flowers are coveted for their delicate beauty. Evoking the subtropical climate of the Eocene in what is now the high desert of Southwestern Wyoming, the present specimen is meticulously prepared to reveal the amazingly intricate details of the beautiful flower. Wonderful texture and color is seen, as well as a pleasing contrast between the matrix and the fossil.
Measures 76 in. length x 32 in width.
Framed in wood and fitted with a metal cleat for wall display.
