AN AUTOGRAPH ALBUM FEATURING THE SIGNATURES OF LINCOLN, SAMUEL L. CLEMENS, EDWIN M. STANTON, JAMES G. BLAINE, AND NUMEROUS OTHERS. In addition to the signature of Lincoln ("A. Lincoln") and several of his cabinet members, the album features 49 pages of signatures of Senators and House members of the 1864 Congress. Besides those mentioned above, signatures include: GIDEON WELLES, (Lincoln's Secretary of the Navy), GUSTAVUS FOX (Assistant Secretary of the Navy), and SALMON P. CHASE (Secretary of Treasury and 6th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court). The Clemens signature is pasted in, reading "Yours truly / Samuel L. Clemens / Mark Twain." It is unknown who the album originally belonged to, but it was acquired at some point by Illinois State Senator Hudson R. Sours (1909-1976), who made many of the pencil identifications and occasional annotations beside the signatures.
