SÍS, PETER. b.1949.
"A Wrinkle in Time," watercolor and pen-and-ink with gold paint, 267 x 159 mm, signed "SÍS" lower right.
Published: A Wrinkle in Time, the first volume of Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quartet (New York: Dell Yearling, 2001), front cover.

Madeleine L'Engle's modern science fiction classic was rejected by 26 publishers before Farrar, Straus and Giroux finally accepted it. It won the 1963 Newbery Medal for the most distinguished contribution to children's literature. While it appeared on the American Library Association's list of the 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 1990–2000, it also was named one of the "Top 100 Chapter Books" of all time in a 2012 poll conducted by School Library Journal. To mark the fortieth anniversary of its publication, Dell Yearling hired Sís to provide new paperback covers for the complete Time Quartet.
