A William IV Coastguard Services percussion pistol
with Portuguese surcharge
The six inch, tapered round .66 caliber barrel with swivel ramrod, the breech marked with crown over GR, crown over crossed scepters and with a crown over partial cipher MR for Maria I of Portugal. Lockplate marked with crown over WR cipher and, at the tail, Enfield. Walnut stock, right side of wrist with BO and broad arrow stamp.
Condition: Very good. Grey metal has been cleaned and shows light scratches, small areas of pitting and generally sharp markings. Wood showing scattered dents and bruises.
